The story follows Qaseh, a single mother who has a teenage daughter named Leyla. Qaseh teaches the neighborhood children to recite the Quran, but finds it difficult to guide Leyla, who has become increasingly rebellious since befriending Zek. Feeling cornered, Leyla runs away from home.
