The poor and orphaned Manto tries in every way to care for her sick father. An equally poor musician falls in love with her, but she is in love with Loris, who is of bourgeois origin. Loris falls victim to a plot hatched by a cunning woman. He abandons Manto, who soon gives birth to their child.
