In May of 1949, director Zhang Ying and screenwriter Zhang Che took people to Taiwan to shoot a film that reflected Taiwan's Gaoshan tribe. Unexpectedly, when it was completed, it coincided with the war between the KMT and the Communist Party in Shanghai.
