Jan's only real friend is his blind father Mogens. When Jan's sister Lisbeth parks Mogens in a nursing home and Mogens apparently loses his will to live, Jan decides to give him something to live for: He stages a grand journey to China, in the middle of his two-room apartment in a desolate ghetto.
