Shinmura, pressured by his mistress Michiko, wanted to divorce his wife Toyoko. He immediately hired Tanaka and Saito, who specialize in breaking up marriages. The two men punctured Toyoko's car tire at a pachinko parlor, and Saito approached her while she was in distress.
