Yamano, a salaryman, is diagnosed with cancer - a revelation that sparks an argument with his wife, Ikuko. During the altercation, he accidentally shoves her; she hits her head and loses consciousness. Terrified, Yamano flees the scene. When Ikuko later regains consciousness, she has lost her memory.
