In 1998 in Laramie, Wyoming, United States, Matthew Shepard, a twenty-two-year-old student, is attacked by two peers in an act of a homophobic nature. Dying, he is transported to the hospital, where he dies a few days later, shaking public opinion overseas and beyond.
