Between April and November 1991, Hafif, who was living in New York at the time, wrote a series of letters to a friend in Paris, writer Jean-Charles Masséra. Letters to J-C #6 (Coney Island (1991-1999) tells the story of an excursion to the beach on the coast of Brooklyn.
