In 1968 rural Pennsylvania, a ragtag group led by Ben Cooper barricades themselves inside an isolated farmhouse to survive a horde of flesh-eating ghouls ravaging the Northeast. A frantic field reporter arrives with conflicting news while the zombies breach the perimeter and invade the living room where Judith O'Dea screams for her father Harry Cooper from behind locked doors.
